Dear All,

While comparing western countries, it seems life style is almost the same in every aspect of life. I used to think that way ... but how wrong I was until I came to Canada myself. I lived in UK for 6 years and now Permanent Resident of Canada.

Surely my vote is for Canada. As United Nation also mentioned as one of the best places to live on Earth! What I have seen is mentioned follows:

Tax:
Overall Canada seems to be on higher side, as you have to pay GST and PST on all products and services, whereas in UK its always inclusive in sales price.

Job Tax is also higher, but you are paid a minimum of $8 on every job . Its not much difficult to get a job of $15 per hour.

Cost of living is 1/3 in terms of food and accommodation. You can easily afford one - two bedroom condos, where as in UK its hard to find one. Studio flats are more than 600-700 pounds approximately 1,200 Canadian dollars

People lived in London or any part of UK can easily accommodate themselves in Toronto. I feel very easy, as before I came to Toronto, I was comparing Toronto as London, like crowded, people won’t have time, less job opportunities etc. Though, It was contrary. London is very crowded and congested, whereas Toronto has quite a rugged, and scenic spaces.

Education
As said, some of the top business, computing, design and medical universities / colleges. Such as Seneca, York, UfT, McGuill, Ryerson.

Job Guidance
You will find far more job search agencies and places, where you can use free internet, print outs and various workshop on job search. I hope non of us expect that someone else will find job for them. Its obvious job has to be found by themselves. It all depends on your eagerness to change, learning, and enthusiasm. Banking, IT and various office job ranging from clerk to managerial level are available, though you have to abide certain procedures and leave the rest on luck.

* Lastly, Canada can be a better option than UK, if you have Permanent Residency status. For students, UK still have various good options. For further on this, you can contact me on headoffice@link2canada.ca

For people who are coming from Pakistan, Canada is 1000000% better than UK.

Since 12 new Central/Eastern European states are entered into EU, their citizens have migrated to UK & are prepared to work for any job for much less pay than pakistanis can afford.

Other disadvantage is for Pakistanis for these NEW EU states is that their nationals are white Europeans & local employer will give a job to white person than a desi, so chances of getting jobs in UK are way less.

As far TAX is mentioned below, let me tell you that in Canada GST (General Sales TAX) is 7% & PST (provincial sales TAX) is 8% in Ontario / Quebec & 7% in other provinces. Making it average 15%.

In UK there is no GST/PST but a single type of TAX & that is VAT (value added tax) its 17.5% so in UK you are paying more tax on everything anyway.

In recent tax changes, the lowest window for UK income tax is removed means you will be paying more tax if ur years income is less than 25,000 Pounds. In Canada the rule is the more u earn the more you pay means, if ur income is low you pay low tax as well. Canadian tax system is much better.

Third most important thing is medical & health care. In UK people are so scared of hospitals that they are running to France & Germany for operations because of bad conditions of hospitals & dying NHS (National health Service).

I have lived in both countries & I'd suggest migration to Canada instead of UK. Canada is always better.

Even for Students - Canada is better - because after finishing your studies the Canadian nationality application is much easier plus you can work there too for one years after finishing your education. That one year is counted as Canadian experience. So you get 5 extra point for your studies & 10 extra points for Canadian experience in you immigration Application means your chances of getting Canadian nationality becomes certain & finding a job is much easier for you too then.

UK - is a big NO NO now. I'd suggest dont even think about UK. Even British people are running away from UK since all Polish (People from Poland) are moving to live in UK.
