| Lamborghini Gallardo Prototype First spyshots of the Lamborghini L140 model ... The main talk about Automobili Lamborghini SpA is still the new 'affordable' model that will be introduced shortly, this new model will use a V10 engine delivering over 500 Bhp to power a car that will put only 1400 Kg on the scale, a very impressive power to weight ratio for a Lamborghini. There are two names being mentioned for this car, on the one hand we've got the Gallardo name, which has been registered together with 'Murcielago' some time ago, but on the other hand the name 'Stella' has been surfaced again, however we'll have to wait until the public unveiling of this brand new Lamborghini to be sure how it will be called. By now it is sure that the Lamborghini V10 powered model will share much of it's components with the new Audi RSR supercar, the production version of the stunning Rosemeyer concept car. With a more conventional styling, the well known Quattro drive, a six speed TipTronic gearbox coupled to a new V-10 engine with a displacement of either 5.0 or 6.0 Litre this new Audi work of art will go on sale during 2004, while the Lamborghini version will available mid 2003 according to the latest information. Much like the Audi derivative, the Lamborghini will use an aluminum chassis and bodywork, both built in Germany by an Audi plant in Neckarsulm, the engine will however be assembled in Sant'Agata, where the finishing touches will be installed too. The Lamborghini will outpower the Audi version and offer a 2+2 seating configuration with an overall roomier impression when compared with the current Murcielago, but without the magnificent trademark upward opening doors. If everything goes as planned in Italy, the new Lamborghini Gallardo or Stella, whatever they decide to call it, will be presented to a small group of invited Lamborghini owners and clubs from around the world during the 40th Anniversary celebration at the factory which will be held in early May of 2003.

| The Lamborghini 'Concept S' at the Geneva Motor Show. At the Geneva Motor Show, the House of the Raging Bull will present a new design study that renews a great Lamborghini tradition. Like the 350 GTS and the Miura Roadster before it, the Lamborghini 'Concept S' is a unique car, an extreme and spectacular expression of the Lamborghini brand. Created at the Centro Stile Lamborghini in Sant'Agata Bolognese by Luc Donckerwolke, Head of Lamborghini Design, the 'Concept S' is his extreme interpretation of an 'open car'. Using the Gallardo as a basis, Donckerwolke drew inspiration from the classic single-seater racing cars of the past to create this latest design study. The classic single-seaters did not have a traditional windscreen, but utilised the so-called 'saute-vent' (in French: a sudden change in the wind) in order to direct air over the head of the driver - and so does the 'Concept S'. These devices divide the cabin into two distinct compartments, giving the car an aggressive and futuristic look and also creating a space between them that acts as an additional air inlet for the powerful engine, which is positioned behind the seats. An electronically controlled, retractable central rear view mirror allows the driver - when required - to see what is happening behind the car. The aerodynamics of the 'Concept S' have been optimised thanks to front and rear spoilers and a large rear diffuser.

| The Lamborghini Gallardo Spider The long awaited Gallardo Spider will be shown to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but naturally there has been a lot af talk about this car over the previous months, ever since the Gallardo V10 was introduced, the idea of an open version was alive ... And it is finally starting to take shape, we've all seen the Concept S at the March 2005 Geneva Auto Show, and most of us were under the impression that this would be a preview of the Gallardo Spider ... but it wasn't. The design of the Concept S was too radical to put into production (there are still rumours that one day a limited production run of a Concept S alike version of the Gallardo will be available) and design continued on a more conventional roadster version of the Gallardo. There have been presentations of the Gallardo Spider behind closed doors, at the factory for instance, but a few weeks ago a couple of photographs were leaked onto public image galleries in the internet, the image of the yellow car seen on this page is such a photograph, probably taken with a mobile phone, it's in a rather low resolution, but it clearly shows the design of the car with the roof down. As with all new cars, even a Lamborghini prototype or pre-production model will need some real road testing before production and deliveries can start, therefore the bright yellow metallic Gallardo Spider used by the factory to show to their dealers was masked with black tape and went onto the track. Just like the L147 prototype, this Gallardo Spider was tested on the Nurnburgring, and an avid fan was able to photograph the car up close, and in high resolution ... his photo's are those of the black looking car on this page ... again many thanks for his help to show you this new Lamborghini two months before the public will be able to see it. The photo's clearly show the way the canvas top was designed by Autmobili Lamborghini SpA, I don't think they will impose a top speed of 180 Km/h with the top up like on the Muciélago, and it sure looks easier to open and close, if a hardtop will be available isn't known yet, but it could be later on, after the introduction in September 2005. Naturally the A-pilars of the windshield were re-inforced, to counteract the fact there isn't a roof left to protect the passengers of the car during a roll-over, and the Gallardo Spider already has the MY2006 wheels fitted, very nice, multi-piece rims, again in 19 inch size. What is also visible is the fact that there are grilles inside the air intakes on top of the rear fenders, if these will also be seen on the standard MY2006 Gallardo remains to be seen. Another question would be the engine, will the Spider receive the more powerful engine from the Gallardo SE, or will it remain with the 500 Bhp engine from the current Gallardo ... what will be certain is the optional e-Gear, that will be available on the entire range of Lamborghini's at this moment. Note that the engine cover on the Gallardo Spider is said to open in a similar method to the Murciélago Roadster engine cover, it tilts at the back of the car, according to a well known source, the engine cover even opens slightly when opening or closing the canvas top on the Gallardo Spider ... should be very impressive on a crowded street ... Anyway, the Lamborghini Gallardo Spider is just about ready, and the first orders are already arriving at dealers all over the world ... can't wait for Frankfurt to actually see the car in public ...

| Driveable Lamborghini 'Concept S' shown at Monterey and Pebble Beach in the USA. The House of the Raging Bull has shown the first driveable prototype of the Lamborghini 'Concept S' at the Monterey Concorso Italiano and at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in the USA. The Lamborghini 'Concept S' design study premiered at this year's Geneva Motorshow as an extreme and spectacular expression of the Lamborghini brand. It was created at the Centro Stile Lamborghini in Sant'Agata Bolognese by Luc Donckerwolke, who drew inspiration from the classic single-seater racing cars of the past. The astonishing amount of public interest at the Geneva Motor Show prompted the decision to build a driveable prototype in order to further gauge potential customer demand. "The 'Concept S' represents everything that Lamborghini stands for. It is extreme, uncompromising and Italian," commented Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. "A production decision has not yet been made, though we were encouraged by the positive response to the driveable prototype at both Monterey and Pebble Beach." The driveable 'Concept S' prototype has only changed slightly compared to the original design study. For example, the so-called 'saute-vent' windscreens were re-designed for homologation reasons. The look of the car results even more extreme than the original. Classic single-seaters did not have a traditional windscreen, but utilised the 'saute-vent' in order to direct air over the head of the driver. In the 'Concept S', these devices divide the cabin into two distinct compartments, giving the car an aggressive and futuristic look. They also create a space between them that acts as an additional air inlet for the engine, which is positioned behind the seats. And like the Gallardo, which serves as the basis for this stunning supersportscar, the 'Concept S' is equipped with a powerful V10 engine. The aerodynamics of the 'Concept S' have been optimised thanks to front and rear spoilers and a large rear diffuser. An electronically controlled, retractable central rear view mirror allows the driver to see what is happening behind the car - when required !
