In the current world cup 2007, as Pakistan and India who already has made early exit from the tournament after their embarrassing defeats, there is still two teams who are continue to perform well, and representing South Asia, yes it is Bangladesh and Sri Lanka , who has kept some hope alive with some dazzling performance , not to forget that Sri Lanka was once rated as B class team some 10 years ago, but they continue to improve their cricket , which finally pays off with winning the world cup in 1996.
The Bangladesh cricket team, is another emerging team in the world of cricket and made a very impressive performance, by winning their one the world cup match with India, and sends a strong message that they are too on their way to world cup glory in few years time.
While, Australia remains the undisputed king of cricket, with some more records going to their long list of records. Matthew Hayden, Australian batsman became the only batsman to score the fastest one-day International hundred in the world cup, and overall the Australian cricket team scoring 4 consecutive over 300 runs in the world cup which is also a record, while we know that records are made to be broken, but this Australia records will be tough to break.
We also witness one of the toughest matches so far, between Sri Lanka and South Africa, where Sri Lanka’s sensational new bowler, Lasith Malinga created another world record by taking 4 wickets in four balls, although Sri Lanka lost the match, but it was nice to see the nail biting finish at the end.
Pakistan cricket on the other hand, seems to be losing it grip on the cricket world, that once they used to dominate with their supremacy, the current events, which happened in the world cup, has completely broke them down, with Pakistan cricket captain Inzamam-Ul-Haq resigned in disgrace after world cup humiliation defeat against Ireland , which widely believe to be match-fixing issue , but former captain has denied involvement in such case , nevertheless , how much he can denied , but facts speaks loud and clear , of Pakistan cricket members involved in the past of match –fixing , with Pakistani cricketer like Saleem Malik , Atta-ur-Rehman , has been banned for life , and Wasim Akram , Waqar Younis , Saeed Anwar , Akram Raza , Inzamam-Ul-Haq has been fined already by Justice Qayyum. And more over is that shameful dirty politics that playing with them, with players are being selected on the basis of which language he speaks, if he speaks urdu and if he is from Karachi, then he will have tough time to be selected, which exposes of another shameful dark side of Pakistan cricket of discrimination and racism, with such victims are Javed Miandad and Mushtaq Mohammad, Rashid Latif and Moin Khan.
Who ever was behind the murder of Pakistani coach Bob Woolmer, has clearly exposed the dirty money involved in the world of cricket and the book that he was writing , which could have brought more light on this under-ground mafia , that has stole the game of cricket from cricket lovers.
With the super-eight stage has began, it is a prediction that Australia and New Zealand might make to the final of the world cup 2007.
