| 30 killed, 91 injured in suicide attack at Peshawar-Kohat Road PESHAWAR: Number of persons killed in suicide car bomb explosion near Zangli check post at Peshawar-Kohat Road has reached 30 including five police officials while the namaz-e-janaza of the police men has been offered here at Police Line on Saturday.
Peshawar police chief Dr Suleman Shah told Geo News that the number of persons killed in the blast has reached 30 including five police officials while 91 people including two police officials have been injured.
He said that strict security arrangements were made in and around Peshawar on receiving an advance information of extremists action on the occasion of the presidential election.
Police officials said the incident happened after officers had signalled a double-cabin vehicle to stop during the checking at Zangli check post but the driver rammed his bomb-laden vehicle into the security checkpost and other vehicles parked there..
The force of the blast destroyed a nearby market, bringing the building down.
Meanwhile, namaz-e-janaza of the five policemen – sub-inspector Aurangzeb, constables Niaz Badshah, Nisabullah, Mohammad Ali and Akbar Jan - was offered in Police Line Peshawar.
High police officials including Peshawar Police chief Dr Suleman Shah and a large number of citizens attended the prayer. |
