The potato is a near perfect food. Although traditionally classified as a vegetable, the potato deserves to be in a food category all its own.Think I'm exaggerating? Then consider the following: Potatoes are eaten by more than a billion people around the world; they contain 99% of the nutrients and minerals required for survival; they are fat-free, and they taste great whether boiled,baked,fried or steamed!
Next time you're eating out, try a new concoction of this tried and tested food. Even a warm bowl of mashed potatoes goes as well at a family meal as it does at a classy restaurant.Tell the chef to spice it up by adding roasted garlic or a knob of butter.Potatoes are a wonderful accompaniment to your main course.Their neutral flavour means you can team them up with other foods in innumerable combinations;with seafood,salsa,spinach and other greens.
Finally, how can we possibly forget the most popular way of eating potatoes:french fries! though a staple at fast food restaurants, fries are an all-time favourite dish that can even be eaten in a 3-star restaurant; improvise with potato wedges if necessary!
